JACK C. JOHNSON Funeral services for Lewis resident formerly of Indio, Calif. Jack C. Johnson will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 23 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Summit Ridge Cemetery. A visitation has been scheduled for Sunday afternoon at the Ertel Chapel from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Jack was born on November 23, 1926 in Dallas, Tex. the son of Jabe B. and Maggie M. (Esslick) Johnson. He passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2006 at his home in Lewis at the age of 79. A U.S. Army veteran, Jack defended his country during World War II in Manila as a Sergeant in the Motor Pool. He went on to spend his career as a Tile Setter for 40 years before his retirement. His friends and family will miss his kindness toward everyone, and his sense of humor. Surviving Jack are his beloved wife of 57 years, Eleanor Johnson of Lewis; his two daughters, Sandra Olinger, Jackie Bowers and their husbands, Ken and Wayne. She leaves her grandchildren, Kenny, Scott, Chris, Melanie, Craig, Julie and Wayne, Jr.; five great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Doris and Lucille. Preceding him in death were his parents.
