Jack Allen Sage

JACK ALLEN SAGE Funeral services for Cortez resident, Jack Allen Sage will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Mr. Bob Conner will officiate. Interment is to follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been set for Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ertel Chapel. Jack was born the son of Robert Lester and Hazel Florence (Wood) Sage on February 18, 1936 in Grand Junction, Colo. He passed away at his home in Cortez on Thursday, December 2, 2004 at the age of 68. Truly an outdoorsman, Jack loved to hunt and fish as a well as gardening. He was devoted to nurturing and growing roses. He also enjoyed metal detecting, horse racing and stock car races. Jack was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. Surviving Jack are his children, Jackie Gray of Portland, Ore., Allen Sage and wife, Doreen of Newport News, Va., Estella “Sam” Valencia of Pagosa Springs, Colo., Travis Cloud and wife, Theresa of Hesperus, Colo. and Lester Sage and wife, Marie of Cortez; 15 grandchildren and six great grandchildren; one brother, Blake Sage and wife, Tami of Las Vegas, Nev.; and sisters, Veda Fletcher of Savannah, Ga., Marilyn J. Voytilla and husband, Jim of Grand Junction, Colo., Karen J. Toland and husband, Lavern of Benton, Ark., and Patricia Rottinghaus and husband, Ted of Montrose, Colo. His daughter, Denise Sage; son, Derrick Sage; and two brothers, Wayne Sage and Robert “Ace” Sage preceded him in death.
