Ivy Elizabeth "Paddy" Rosser

IVY ELIZABETH "PADDY" ROSSER Ivy Elizabeth "Paddy" Rosser, 97, died at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Frances Rosser Taylor and David Taylor in Mancos, Colo. on August 31, 2013. Paddy was born in Burnley, Lancashire, England November 19, 1915 to Robin and Marie Towler. She enlisted in the WAAF, the women's auxiliary to the Royal Air Force, and served for five years during World War II. She became the Sergeant in charge of the Officer's Mess and took pride in having been woken up early one morning to serve breakfast to "Churchill and the King". During the war she met her husband to be, Willis A. Rosser, who was serving in the US Army Air Corps and based in London. After the war, the couple were married, had three children and spent their lives together until Bill's death in 1999. They lived in many places due to Bill's profession as a laser scientist including Los Angeles, Calif., Las Cruces, N.M., and Tucson, Ariz. Paddy moved to Mancos in 2003 to live with her family and was well known at the Senior Center where she enjoyed playing bingo, particularly when she was winning. She loved knitting things for people and gave away many items to people at the Senior Center. She also knit baby caps and donated them to the local hospitals. Along with her knitting, Paddy enjoyed doing needlepoint and produced many beautiful pieces. She loved to bake and was famous for her mince tarts. She enjoyed cruising to Alaska and took many cruises in recent years, taking many of her family members along with her. She often expressed how much she loved and how proud she was of her children and grandchildren. In addition to Frances and David, Paddy is survived by daughter, Rosemary Rosser of Tucson, Ariz.; son, Robin Rosser and his wife, Debbie of Los Angeles, Calif.; grandchildren, Joelle, Nathan, and Clint Rosser, Dean Floerchinger, and Christopher Taylor; great grandson, Lawson Floerchinger; nephews, Kevin, Brian and Michael Barr; nieces, Jeanette Cardamone and Maria Cannata; and her beloved cat. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; and her sister and brother-in-law, Marion and William Barr.
