ISABEL THERESA SANCHEZ Memorial Mass for Cortez resident Isabel Theresa Sanchez will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 11 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. A Rosary service will be held on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Isabel was born on July 15, 1946 in Cortez the daughter of Ben Whitehorse Sr. and Maggie (Candelaria) Whitehorse. She passed away on Monday, December 7, 2009 at Northern Navajo Medical Center in Shiprock, N.M. at the age of 63. Isabel was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed time spent outdoors fishing and camping. Isabel had a wonderful porcelain doll collection. She also enjoyed knitting and sewing wonderful, cherished gifts for her family. Isabel's family brought her life much happiness. She loved her grandbabies dearly. Surviving Isabel are her children, Gina Abeln and husband, Damon of Cortez, Christopher Sanchez and wife, Chelsey of Cortez, Tracie Garber and husband, Brian of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Michael Dunn of Denver, Colo., and Marcellino Hernandez of Cortez; her father, Ben Whitehorse Sr. of Montezuma Creek, Utah; and her seven grandchildren, Kylee Sierra Dunn, Romi Alaska Dunn, Dagin Hunter Thomas, Cabre Paige Hernandez, Caison Cole Dean Abeln, Cayden Joseph Sanchez, and Cavyn Reed Sanchez. Isabel also leaves behind her companion, Larry Bartlett of Cortez; her siblings, Nellie Lobato of Cortez, Josie Francisco of Farmington, N.M., Ida Francisco of Farmington, N.M., and Ruben White of Montezuma Creek, Utah; and her ex-husband of which Isabel was married to for 25 years, Richard Sanchez. Isabel was preceded in death by her mother, Maggie (Candelaria) Whitehorse.
