Everyone fortunate to have met Irma Herrmann has been made better for it. Her enthusiasm for life was far-reaching, right up to her untimely passing on Sunday, January 15. She was 91 years old. Born Irma Jean Latham on October 29, 1925 in Berlin, Oklahoma, Irma would someday marry an amazing, Renaissance man named Gunther Herrmann, who had been born in Berlin, Germany. But that's another story. Irma's love for friends and family was matched only by her enthusiasm for travel. From elephant-riding in Thailand to junkets deep into Africa and South America, Irma's curiosity was unbounded. As a talented travel agent for over half a century, she could place clients, in style, virtually anywhere they wanted to go. She boarded cruises on many seas, and enjoyed her home base in West Hollywood. A year and a half ago, after traveling the four corners of the world, she relocated happily in the Four Corners of Colorado, to be here with her daughter and son-in-law. Irma managed to cram an amazing amount of life into her 91 years. Her sudden passing has left family and friends adrift and grief-stricken; but in her intrepid way, she has moved on to the next Adventure. Irma Is survived by daughter Debra Williams and son-in-law Jim; son, Eric Herrmann and daughter-in-law, Cynthia; granddaughter Robin McClanahan and John Azzaria, her brother, Dale Latham; her brother-in-law, Hubert Herrmann (with son, Kurt and his partner, Michael, and daughter Lynnea); sister-in-law, Greta Christensen (with sons, Ross and Paul), and niece, Sandra; and nephew, Ron--as well as her matriarchal 108 year-old Aunt Pauline. Irma's big, wonderful world has been made smaller for us all with her passing. We will miss you, Irma.
