Imogene Utley

IMOGENE UTLEY Imogene Utley, 80, of Cortez, passed peacefully in her sleep on Oct. 21, 2016, at Vista Grande Inn in Cortez. Imogene was born April 3, 1936 in Dove Creek, CO to Eulah and Lawrence Jackson. Imogene was a dedicated wife, loving mother, and amazing homemaker. She joined her husband, Norman, in the ownership and operation of the family business, Norman Utley Construction. She was a vital part of the family business diligently managing the office and bookkeeping for over 50 years. Imogene found much pleasure in spending time with and being an avid part of the family. She will be remembered for her caring heart, strong leadership, and never-ending love for her family. Imogene and Norman had two children, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren who were privileged to learn first-hand from their parents/ grandparents the value of good morals, good principles, and the importance of integrity. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Norman Utley of Cortez, CO; son, Dewain Utley (Carol) of Cortez, CO; daughter, Tana Sparks (Tim) of Durango, CO; five grandchildren (Norman Utley, Jr., James Utley, Tyla Koehler, Tori Kroeger, and Tierney Lake) and ten great-grandchildren. Imogene, the youngest of ten children, was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and three sisters. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28 at 1st Baptist Church of Dove Creek and interment will be at the Dove Creek Cemetery, Dove Creek, CO. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Dove Creek Ambulance Fund at PO Box 474, Dove Creek, CO 81324.
