Loving Mother and Grandmother, Imogene Daves passed away suddenly in Cortez, Colorado on Friday, November 25, 2016 at the age of 79. Imogene was born on November 21, 1937 in Ackman, Colorado to Donald Dean Wells and Bertha LaVon Randol Wells. She was raised and educated in Dove Creek, Colorado and graduating Dolores County High School with the Class of 1956. Imogene was a longtime member of General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn of Arriola, Colorado. On August 18, 1955 Imogene married her high school sweetheart, James Howard Daves of Dove Creek, Colorado. They began their home in Dove Creek in a small mobile home that had no heat or running water. Two of their six children Rhonda Sue and James Rodney were born during that time. They moved to town where Roger Dean, Rita Jean and Roxie Annette were born. Imogene soon went to work as Deputy County Clerk at the Dolores County Clerk's Office where she was employed for 10 years working to help provide for her family and buy her piano. She and James bought the family farm near Egnar and moved there in 1968 where Rebecca Jeanine was born. In 1975 they bought their home place in Cahone and built their beautiful home that they worked so hard to have and were very proud of. They moved in October of 1976. James and Imogene farmed side by side for just short of 50 years in Dove Creek and Cahone areas until January 27, 2005 when James passed away suddenly. They farmed nearly 2000 acres over the years. Imogene continued on with their dream of farming, running the business side until 2013. Momma was loved greatly by her family, friends and church family. She was an accomplished seamstress, making most of her four daughter's clothes as they were growing up. She then began sewing for her grandchildren and moved on to making baby quilts for each of her grandchildren as they were born. Following that she began making more intricate quilts, mostly for her grandchildren as they married. They are beautiful and are cherished by each. Mom made wedding cakes for each of her children's weddings and for many others through the years, always so beautiful. She made Springcrest drapes that were hung in many homes in Utah, Dove Creek and Cortez. Mom enjoyed oil painting and left us a few paintings to cherish. Many knew Mom for her cooking and baking. Her biscuits were the best and Daddy loved her homemade chocolate pudding for her chocolate pies. Her homemade bread and cinnamon rolls were always requested and lasted only a few hours after they came out of the oven. Her unforgettable chicken and noodles were always enjoyed by her family. She spent countless hours for many years canning green beans, fruit, blackeyed peas, jams and jellies and frozen corn that was needed for the family. She and Daddy instilled a great work ethic in each of their children. She is greatly missed today and will never be forgotten. Imogene was preceded in death by her husband, James, an infant son; her parents Donald and Bertha Wells and her father and mother-in-law Floyd and Glennis Daves, sisters and brothers-in-laws Neta Sue, Beverly and Bert, Wayne, Stanley and Bobby Joe. She leaves to cherish her memory her six children, Rhonda Wright and husband, Terry of Tulare, CA, Rodney Daves and wife, Crystal of Pleasant View, CO, Roger Daves and wife, Keila of Cahone, CO, Rita Davis and husband, Troy of Cortez, CO, Roxie Willbanks of Clifton, CO and Becky Norris and husband, Dan of Tahoka, TX; her grandchildren, Brandon Wright and wife, Amy and their children, Raygan and Brock, Bradley Wright and wife, Gina and their sons, Cole, Cash and Clint, Tiffany Hartsoe and husband, Jason and their sons, Easton and Trace, Jarrett Daves, Brandi Hocker and husband, Tim and their children, Braycen, Taven and Braxton, Chance Daves and wife, Haley, Michael Daves and wife, Breanna and their daughter Tesla, Blaine Daves and wife, Jaisie and their son Stoney, Kymberlee Yen and husband, Joe and their children Maicee Lynn, Rylee and Lukas, Dalton Davis and wife, Taylor, Shelbey Willbanks and her son, Bentley, Canon Willbanks, Jessica Goodman and husband, Matthew and their son Ryker and Austin Norris; her sister, Bernadean Sweet and husband, Jack; numerous nieces and nephews.
