Ida Louise Mcclure

August 29, 1912 — October 25, 2010

IDA LOUISE MCCLURE Memorial services for longtime Cortez resident Ida Louise McClure will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 30 at Faith Bible Church. Pastor Adrian Gonzales will officiate. Ida McClure was born August 29, 1912 in Caldwell, Tex. to Joseph Coral and Edna (Price) Brymer. She passed away at her home in Cortez on Monday, October 25, 2010. Ida stayed in Texas for the first 40 years of her life. Her earlier years were spent on the family farm and attending the San Antonio Prairie School. In the 1930’s Ida married Malcolm “Red” Gould. They had three children, Dennis, JoAnne, and Bobby. In the early 50’s, Ida married Johnny McClure and they moved to Colorado Springs, Colo. Four years later they made their way to Cortez where she lived until her death. Ida helped support herself by doing various jobs including washing dishes at the Elks Club, cleaning houses, and helping at the Erma Cordova Head Start. Ida was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the V.F.W., and the Rebekahs. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and Ida absolutely loved to sing. Preceding Ida in death were her parents; her five siblings; and two of her children, Dennis and JoAnne. She is survived by her son, Bobby Gould and wife, Linda of Pohoa, Hawaii; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a few great-great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her honesty, her appreciation for beauty, her ability to make others laugh, her sweetness, and let’s not forget her stories of pickin’ cotton and pullin’ corn.
