HUBERT "WESLEY" SWITZER Memorial services for Hubert "Wesley" Switzer a lifelong resident of Cortez will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2 at Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. Wes was born in Norwood, Colo. on April 1, 1948 to Hubert Wilburn and Marie Belle (Terrill) Switzer. He passed away at his Cortez home on Friday, April 27, 2012 at the age of 64. Wes served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After his discharge, Wes became a member of Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. He also belonged to Cortez Elks Lodge BPOE #1789, the National Rifle Association and the Turkey Federation. Wes enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and playing horseshoes as well as throwing darts. Surviving Wes are his wife, April Lou (Warren) Switzer of Cortez; his children, Barbara Driver and husband, Matt of Grand Junction, Colo. and Wesley Allen Switzer and wife, Patty of Red Oak, Texas; his stepchildren, Emy Grimes and husband, Norman, John Patterson and Andrew Patterson and wife, Patricia all of Cortez; 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild; and two brothers, Ed Switzer and wife, Maxine and Jerry Switzer and wife, Barbara all of Cortez. Preceding Wes in death were his parents, Hubert and Marie Switzer; a brother, Leonard Switzer; and his sister, Pearline Show.
