Herman Muniz

HERMAN MUNIZ Funeral services for Mancos resident Herman Muniz were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 31 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. The Very Reverend Joseph L. Gallegos officiated. Interment followed at the Cortez Cemetery with military honors provided by the Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. A Rosary took place Sunday evening at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Herman was born on October 15, 1948 in Cortez, the son of Bonifacio and Demetria (Espinoza) Muniz. He passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2006 at his home at the age of 57. On August 24, 1974, Herman married Marjorie Jaramillo in Brighton, Colo. Herman was a past Trustee on the Mancos Town Board. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also was an avid coin collector. Surviving Herman are his wife, Marjorie Muniz of Mancos; and his children, Chris Marquez of Mancos, Kimberly Bear and husband, Richard of Fayetteville, N.C., Herman Muniz Jr. and wife, Kimberly of Grand Junction, Colo., Monique Dowe and husband, John Paul of Hiensville, Georgia, Jeremiah Muniz of Mancos, and Jerry Lee of Durango. He also leaves behind his siblings, Edward Muniz and wife, Sandra of Cortez, Ada Gallegos and husband, Sal of Baltimore, Maryland, Louis Cordova and wife, Patsy of Cortez, and Linda Ramirez and husband, Robert of Alamosa, Colo., and 12 grandchildren. Herman was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Loraine Valdez and Walter Adams.
