HENRY LUDWIG JANSEN JR. Funeral Mass for Dolores resident Henry Ludwig Jansen Jr. will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 6 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Pat Valdez, C.R. officiating. Interment will take place in New Jersey. Visitation has been set for Thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Military Honors will be provided at 6:30 p.m. by Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. Henry passed away at his Dolores home on Monday, July 2, 2012 at the age of 89. He was born May 15, 1923 in Osterfeld, Germany the son of Henry Ludwig Jansen Sr. and Anna Mnnel Jansen. At the age of three, Henry and his family came to the United States. As a devoted American, Henry enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II. While enlisted he served in France as an artillery instructor; he still keeps his "dog tags" close by and was known to keep an American Flag on his jacket lapel. Henry was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and found great pleasure and pride in standing to sell poppies. On June 26, 1948 Henry married Florence Petrosino in Newark, N.J., recently celebrating 64 years of marriage. Prior to moving to this area Henry was a member of Special Olympics. He also had a passion for bowling which he shared as a coach and while a member of the Morris County Bowling Association he bowled, acted as director of the association and served three years as vice president. Henry's talent allowed him 20 years of national tournament bowling. Surviving Henry are his beloved wife, Florence Jansen of Dolores; his son, Richard Jansen also of Dolores; his granddaughter, Tara Montgomery and John Jones; three great grandchildren, Michael, Halie and Kayden; and by his brother, Herman "Jan" Jansen of Florida. Henry was preceded in death by his parents; and a great grandchild, Eligh. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Henry L. Jansen Jr. with the American Cancer Society.
