HENRY CLAY EWING A Life Celebration for Henry Clay Ewing, a lifelong resident of Mancos, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, September 24 at the Fellowship Hall at the Mancos United Methodist Church. Reverend Craig Paschal will officiate. Henry was born the son of Chancy Frank and Emma Delila (Gilliland) Ewing on March 17, 1936 in Yellow Jacket, Colo. He passed away at his home in Mancos on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at the age of 71. Henry was a graduate of Mancos High School in 1955. He married Roma Lynn Dillon on August 30, 1957 at the Mancos Methodist Church. Henry and Roma celebrated 50 years of marriage just weeks before his death. He loved time spent outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, trapping and prospecting. He was happiest with time spent with his family and his dog, Spanky. Henry was known as a truly talented woodworker. For 35 years Henry was employed by Mountain Bell as a lineman. Surviving Henry are his wife, Roma of Mancos; children, Tanya Ewing-Finchem and husband, Mark of Tucson, Ariz. Hody Clay Ewing of Durango, and Justin Frank Ewing of Clifton, Ariz.; his grandchildren, Brandon, Tiffany, Beau, Chauncey and Taylor. Also surviving Henry are his brothers, Edward Kennedy and wife, LaVern of Mancos and Loran Kennedy of Soda Springs, Ida; his sister, Lorene O’Brien of Mancos; and Jimmy Cook, who was raised as a brother, and his wife, Esther also of Mancos. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Henry Ewing to either Hospice of Montezuma, PO Box 740 Cortez, or American Heart Association, 1280 S. Parker Rd. Denver, CO 80231-2100.
