Helen Marie Yarbrough

On Friday, January 11, 2019 Helen Marie Yarbrough passed away at Vista Grande Inn in Cortez, CO at the age of 91.
Helen was born in Friona, TX on June 22, 1927 to Gladys and Arthur Hughes. She was the oldest of 10 children. She lived in Friona until 1936 when the family moved to Colorado. They lived in Lebanon for a short time until they moved to Arriola. Helen attended Arriola grade school and Cortez high school and graduated in 1945. She married Delbert Lee Yarbrough on June 22, 1947. She worked for a time at J.C. Penny and then went to work at the Toggery until it closed in October, 2005. She and Delbert were a team at the Toggery for many years. She worked there for a time full-time until a daughter, Shirley Kay was born on June 2, 1958. She worked part time until Shirley started school and then returned to full time employment.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Shirley Kell; granddaughters, Patricia Kell and Heather Stanford; great grandchildren, Cash Hanvey, Aspen Kell, Kya Stanford, and Orion Gallagher; a sister, Mary Richardson; and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert; son-in-law, John Kell; sisters and brothers, Carmen Ives, Tom Hughes, Louise Perkins, Bob Hughes, Patsy Millen, and three infant siblings.
