HELEN ELIZABETH MATLACK HARPER DOLAN Graveside services for Cortez, Colo. resident Helen Elizabeth Matlack Harper Dolan will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 17 at Bordentown Cemetery in Bordentown, N.J. Helen was born on October 28, 1913 to George Raymond and Julia Louise (Kline) Matlack in Chesterfield Township, N.J. on the Black's Farm. She died on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 in Cortez, Colo. She was schooled in Chesterfield, Fieldsboro, Columbus, Arnytown, Roebling and Florence. She graduated from the eighth grade in Florence, N.J. Helen married Schlonas Parent Harper on December 7, 1929. They made their home in Delanco, Cream Ridge, Bordentown Township and Chesterfield; residing in Chesterfield for about 20 years. In this union they had three sons; Schlonas Parent Jr., Samuel Irving, and George Raymond. They were married 32 years before Schlonas' death in 1961. Helen married Harry William Dolan in Mt. Holly, N.J. on June 16, 1962. They made their home in Masonville, N.J. They were married seven years before Harry's death on October 6, 1969. Helen then moved to Browns Mills, N.J. and resided there until she moved to New Mexico with her son George and his wife and kids. She lived in Los Alamos, N.M. for 23 years before moving to Dolores, Colo. with her son George and his wife, Louise. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Frank Casper, William Herman, Charles, John Albert, George Raymond Jr., and Walter Burtis; her sisters, Mary Jane Reed, Anna Kliver Cullen, Ruth Ellen (at the age of 3), Louise and Edith as infants; and her two sons, Schlonas Parent Harper Jr. and Samuel Irving Harper. Surviving Helen are her son, George Harper and wife, Alice of Grand Rivers, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Helen Olivos and husband, Roberto, John Joseph Harper, John Hutchinson Harper of Scotland, Wanda Owens and husband, Brian of Jemez Springs, N.M., George Harper Jr. and wife, Jennifer of Conway, Ark., and Dawn Archuleta and husband, Matthew of Rio Rancho, N.M.; nine great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
