HELEN BERTHA PERKINS Graveside services for Helen Bertha Perkins a longtime Dove Creek resident will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 22 at Dove Creek Cemetery. Pastor Barr Chittick will officiate. Visitation has been set for Wednesday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Helen was born in Hanover, Kans. on May 4, 1918 to Otto and Anna (Jasch) Opfer. She passed away at Southwest Memorial Hospital on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the age of 92. On July 31, 1934 Helen married Freddie E. Perkins in Barnes, Kans.; celebrating 58 years of marriage before Freddie's death in 1993. Helen was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She farmed for many years with her husband and then went to work at City Market as a cashier. She retired in 1984. Helen was active in the Cahone Senior Center; she loved to travel and quilting. Surviving Helen are her daughter, Judy Kay Loudenburg and husband, DuWayne of Mesa, Ariz.; her son, Larry Ray Perkins and wife, Linda of Ignacio, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Dee Ann Jurrius, Rodney Loudenburg, Terri Gibbons, Randy Loudenburg, Tammy Kennedy, Ronnie Perkins, and Debbie Perkins; and by seven great grandchildren, Brittney Ball, Melissa Ball, Garrett Gibbons, Jeriah Kennedy, Jesse Kennedy, James Kennedy, and Jason Kennedy. Preceding Helen in death were her parents, husband, Freddie Perkins; and two sisters and two brothers. Helen's family requests that memorial contributions in her honor may be made to your charity of choice.
