HAROLD JOSEPH SHIPMAN Memorial services for Mancos resident, Harold Joseph Shipman will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 15 at the Cottonwood Park in Mancos. Come share his memory with Joy, family and friends. Harold was born on October 6, 1924 in Logan, Mo. the son of Joe Fred and Alma Bonnie (Stout) Shipman. He passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at the Valley Inn Nursing Home at the age of 80. On May 15, 1947 in Fruita, Colo. Harold married Roxianna Joy Hale. Before embarking on a mining career, Harold served his country in the U.S. Navy. Later went to work mining in the Uranium Mines. Harold maintained memberships with both the V.F.W. and the Odd Fellows. During his spare time Harold enjoyed fishing, hunting, tying flies, and driving. Surviving Harold are his wife, Joy Shipman of Mancos; his children, Michael Joe Shipman and wife, Cindy of Kremling, Colo., and LaDawna Emch of East Point, Mich. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Melissa Joy Emch, Diane Bird, and Michelle Bird; four great-grandchildren; his two sisters-in-law, Marian Shipman and Phillis Shipman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; and his two brothers.
