GUS CLIFFORD “CLIFF” SMALL Memorial services for longtime Cortez resident, Gus Clifford “Cliff” Small will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 14 at Montezuma Valley Presbyterian Church. Visitation has been set for Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Cliff was born December 20, 1914 in Dexter, N.M. the son of William Edward and Birdie Lee (Murphee) Small. He passed away at his home on Friday, May 11, 2007 at the age of 92. Cliff married Sybil Geraldine Reynolds on May 3, 1952 in Bernalillo, N.M. They shared 55 years of marriage. In 1971 the Smalls moved to the Cortez area. Cliff loved to hunt, fish, camp and to garden. Most especially he loved to play with his grandchildren. Surviving Cliff are his wife, Sybil Small; children, Shannon Lee South, Lorraine Gaye Barwin, and Robert Lyn Small; and his siblings, Ann Watkins, Bobby Small and Cleo Newman. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Jane Jones; three brothers, Dwight Small, Tom Small and Max Small; and one sister, Mable Slater.
