GREGORY J MARTIN Funeral services for Gregory J Martin will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 13 at the Cortez Church of Christ. Mr. Jim Beaver and Mr. Gary Hill will officiate. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been set for Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Gregory J Martin passed away at the age of 47 on Saturday, July 6, 2013 in Lubbock, Texas. Gregory was born on May 13, 1966 in Cortez, Colo. He is the son of the late Kenneth J Martin and Suzanne (Coppinger) Martin. Gregory graduated from Montezuma Cortez High School in 1984. He enjoyed playing the trumpet in the high school band. Gregory graduated from Lubbock Christian University in Lubbock, Texas in 1991 with a Bachelors Degree in Finances. He sang in the LCU Acappella Chorus and traveled to Hawaii and many churches in various states. Gregory was also in the fraternity Alpha Chi and served as an official on the Student Senate. He performed in activities such as Master Follies. Gregory loved his Christian family at LCU. He went on to manage a financial agency and also worked in customer service. Gregory was baptized by Hunt Zumwalt on January 3, 1988. Surviving Gregory are his mom, Suzanne Martin; grandmother, Chloris Coppinger; sister, Kendra Carroll and husband, Jeff Carroll of San Antonio, Texas; nephew, Zakhery Carroll; nieces, Emerald Carroll, Crystal Carroll, and Zakhiah Carroll all of San Antonio, Texas; niece, Jaesei Kunkel and husband, Gary Kunkel of Lubbock, Texas; and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins. Gregory was preceded in death by his dad, Kenneth J Martin; granddads, Hurschel K. Coppinger and Alex Martin; and grandmother, Helen Martin.
