GREGORY ALLAN LEHMKUHL Graveside services for longtime Cortez resident Gregory Allan Lehmkuhl will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 9 at Cortez Cemetery. Reverend Pat Valdez C.R. will officiate and Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75 will conduct military honors. Greg was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 8, 1950 to James and Glenna Lea (Spangler) Lehmkuhl. He passed away at Southwest Memorial Hospital on Monday, April 2, 2012 at the age of 61. Greg served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam Era. During that service, Greg received injuries which qualified him as a disabled veteran and he held membership in the Disabled American Veterans group as well as a lifetime member of the Mancos VFW. On February 26, 1977 Greg married Sandra L. Silva. Together they shared 35 years of marriage. Greg was a seismographer in the oil fields. He was a collector of stamps and coins and enjoyed being in the outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, camping or gardening. Surviving Greg are his loving wife, Sandra Lehmkuhl of Cortez; two brothers, Fred Lehmkuhl of Simi Valley, Calif. and Steve Zucker and wife, Flo of West Virginia; his brother-in-law, Don Silva and wife, Julie of La Mirada, Calif.; three nephews and six nieces; and three grand nieces as well as numerous friends.
