Granville "Moss" Atkinson

GRANVILLE "MOSS" ATKINSON Lifelong area resident Granville "Moss" Atkinson was born in Quail, Texas on April 29, 1938 the son of Granville E. Atkinson and Mary Lucy (Daves) DeLost. Moss passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at his residence at the age of 78. Moss served his country in the United States Army. In April of 1965 he married Billie Jean Hinton in Durango, Co. Moss retired after 34 years of employment at Nielsons, Inc. Moss loved his horses, ranching and riding. Snowmobiling and boating were pastime activities that he enjoyed with his family. Surviving Moss are his wife, Billie Atkinson; his children, Lee Helms of Cortez, Sandy Murphy (Michael) of Lake City, CO.; Aaron Atkinson (Kathy) of Dolores, Co.; and Cal Atkinson (Becca) of Grand Junction, CO.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and by his sister, Shirley Dennison. Moss was preceded in death by his parents; and by his siblings, Peggy Kirkpatrick and Doug DeLost. A private family service was held on Thursday the 5th of May.
