GORDON LEE MOSS Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident Gordon Lee Moss will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 15 at the Cortez Elks Lodge #1789. Cremation will follow the funeral service. Pastors Steve and Kim Nofel will officiate. A visitation has been scheduled for Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Gordon was born on March 31, 1929 in Clifton, Colo., the son of John Etherly and Marjorie Noreen (Carey) Moss. He passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2007 in Albuquerque, N.M. at the age of 77. Gordon married Norma Lee Odom on July 26, 1949 in Dolores. Gordon volunteered much of his time to various different groups and organizations. He was a retired member of the Cortez Volunteer Fire Department, he was a 32nd degree Mason and was a member of the Scottish Rite, Escalante Shrine, Cortez Elks Lodge #1789, and he served on the Board of Directors for the Cortez Fire Protection District. Surviving Gordon are his wife of 57 years, Norma Moss; his sons, Curtis E. Moss and wife, A. Jean of Cortez, and Lester Moss of Mancos; his brother, Clyde Moss and wife, Winona of Cortez; his four grandchildren, Justin and Gaylon Moss, LaLana Dillard, and Amber Handrahan; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be made in Gordon’s memory to the Cortez Volunteer Fire Department.
