Gordon Allen Wonacott

Gordon A Wonacott was born January 8, 1934 in Tehachapi, CA the son of Austin Ringo and Maude (Copsey) Wonacott. He passed from this life January 29, 2022 at home in Mancos, CO at the age of 88.
Gordon graduated from Tehachapi High School in 1954. He worked as a chemist at the cement plant in his hometown for 35 yrs. He fell in love with Mancos while on a hunting trip to the area and decided this would be his retirement home, moving to Mancos in 1989. Gordon was an avid hunter, fisherman and a pretty good taxidermist. He was a true sportsman holding several Boone and Crockett records during his lifetime.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Carole; three children, daughter, Marlene Riggins of Calimesa, CA, daughter, Alberta “Bert” Duvall of Muldrow, OK and son, Robert “Bob” Wonacott of Cottonwood Shores, TX; his grandchildren, Jeremy Riggins and Sarah Duvall; several great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and a few lifelong friends that have been a blessing during this time of bereavement. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandson, Rick Finis Riggins.
A private memorial service will be held at a later time.
