Reverend Lynn Evans will be officiating. Glenn’s remains will be placed in the Columbarium at the Methodist Church. Glenn was born on December 4, 1920 in Shickley, Neb. the son of John Henry and Lillie Blanche (Ekwall) Watmore. He passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at the Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 84. He was educated in Nebraska and served four years in the US Air Force during World War II. He was a Technical Instructor in charge of a Post Mechanic School in Marfa, Tex., training students in the Air Force Flight program. After several years in the financial field in Denver, Colo., Glenn became involved in reorganizing rural banks. He and his family lived in Buena Vista while working in the banks in Buena Vista and Fairplay. He was president of the Dove Creek State Bank for seven years in the 1970’s, and was among the leaders in Dove Creek who established the community health clinic which has become a great asset to the area. When the bank sold, Glenn became associated with the First National Bank in Cortez and later Mesa Verde Savings and Loan. He has lived in Cortez since 1980 and retired in 1985. In Cortez, he was a member of the Cortez Rotary Club and especially enjoyed working on the July 4th fireworks and the Easter Egg Hunt. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Cortez Elks Lodge. Glenn’s greatest joy was the birth of his son, Greg, after he and Shirley were married 17 years with no other children. Greg and his wife, Tracey, and their two daughters were a source of great pride to Glenn. Surviving Glenn are his wife of 62 years, Shirley Watmore of Cortez; his son, Greg Watmore and wife, Tracey; granddaughters, Kristin Isabelle and Lauren Elizabeth Watmore all of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; his brother ValDean Watmore of Las Vegas, Nev.; his sister-in-law, Rubye Smith of Denver, Colo.; as well as several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; and his three brothers, Dean, Donald and Wilbur. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Cortez First United Methodist Church at 515 N. Park Street, Cortez, Co. 81321. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Love Fund of the church.
