Glee Dora Smith

GLEE DORA SMITH Funeral services for lifelong Mancos resident, Glee Dora Smith will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2005 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Glee was born on August 15, 1912 in Hammond, Okla. the daughter of Charlie D. and Vivian G. (Marrow) Farni. She passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2005 at her granddaughter’s residence. She was 93 years old. She graduated from high school in Hammond, Okla. and on November 18, 1933, Glee married Willis Leslie “Bill” Smith in Cheyenne, Okla. She was a past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star and she was also a member of the Mt. Lookout Grange in Mancos. Glee was a hardworking countrywoman who loved canning and could be found working in the farm most days. She was an excellent gardener that had a tremendous green thumb. Surviving Glee are her children; Marcheta Newholm of Mancos and Boots Smith of Tucumcari, N.M.; her grandchildren, Kim Lipe and family of Cortez, Scott Walton and family of Mancos, Kevin Brown and family, and Bart Smith and family both of Albuquerque, N.M.; her siblings, Bruce Farni of Oklahoma, Kent Farni of Alaska, Joan Farni and Nell Farni of Oklahoma., and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter; four grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-grandson and three sisters.
