GERTRUDE IRENE “GERTIE” LYNN-WARD Gertie was a long time resident of Squaw Point. She left us November 15, 2005 at the Valley Inn in Mancos, Colorado where she has been a resident for three years. Gertie was born January 2, 1920 to Clifford and Bessie Lynn in Parma, Missouri the oldest girl of thirteen children. She is survived by three sisters, Violet Hunter of Midway, Arkansas, Naoma Chadd of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Elizabeth Grimmitt of Orville, California. She married Mark O. Ward “Shoat” in Alamosa, Colorado on January 28 of 1938 and to this union was born Neita June Ward (deceased), Fred O. Ward of Cahone, Colorado, Sharon K. Ward Arrington of Cedar City, Utah. The couple also raised and helped raise Gene Lynn of Nucla, Colorado, Ann Lynn (deceased) Juanita Lynn Adams of Cortez, and Laveta Morton of Dove Creek. Gertie and Mark had six granddaughters, Lena Irene Smith, Kay Lynn McKeehan, Marcie Everly, Tanya Jenkins, Vanale Fletcher and Lynnette Hadden, 15 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. Her beloved husband, “Shoat” Mark O. Ward preceded Gertie in death in 1970. Gertie was a very talented person, able to do all kinds of crafts. She was a wonderful seamstress and home maker. Gertie was the kind of person who was always ready and willing to help in any way she could. She leaves a lot of family and friends who loved her. We will all miss her dearly. Cremation has taken place with services to be held at a later date.
