GEORGIA ROBERTA PYLE Memorial services for longtime Cortez resident, Georgia Roberta Pyle will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 13 at the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. Inurnment services will follow at the Summit Ridge Cemetery. Reverend Erika Meyer will be officiating. Georgia was born on June 9, 1917 in Lycene, Kans. the daughter of Jacob Alva and Mary Sue (Brown) Blair. She passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2006 at the Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 88. Georgia came to the Cortez area around 1935 or 1936. On March 21, 1953 in Aztec, N.M. she married Byron Wilkinson Pyle. Georgia spent her working career as a beautician. During her spare time she enjoyed golf and holding memberships with several local organizations. She was part of the Ladies Golf Association, Order of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. Surviving Georgia are her children, Donald Eugene Carver, Janet Louise Eccher, Blair Wilkinson Pyle and wife, Maureen all of Cortez, and Brynda Lynn Cleveland and husband, Ben of Anchorage, Ak. She leaves ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Amanda “Mae” Rickel and husband, Cal of Cortez. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Byron Pyle; her children, Charlotte Carver and Brent Pyle; as well as her brothers, William Blair and Jacob Blair, Jr. Memorial contributions can be made in Georgia’s name for Camp Ilium at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.
