Georgia Frances Buckley Oliver December 2, 1927 to August 20, 2015 Georgia passed away at her home in Dove Creek, Colorado. She was 87. Georgia was a strong independent spirit who took responsibility for raising many of her eight siblings when she was only a child herself. And, she was still very young when she took on raising her six stepchildren, some of whom were not much younger than she, then her own two children. But she didn't stop there. When circumstances arose, she took on raising some of her grandchildren and she earned the love and respect of them all. Georgia had a love of music, and played guitar and sang in clubs with her husband, Leo and her son Don, and at home and gatherings to the delight of her family members. She attended many concerts of country music greats and loved staying after for them to autograph her albums. She also loved photography. Her shelves were filled with photo albums of her folks, siblings, kids and grandkids. Georgia was a seamstress. First making clothes for her and her siblings and children and later working for LeVoys for over 32 years. She was their first employee and one of the last. She had a business/hobby of raising Pekinese Puppies, but when she no longer raised them to sell, she had a love for them and devoted much of her last years caring for them. She was famous for her frugality, but she accomplished much while earning bare bones wages. She was pleased that she could travel as much as she did, even making it to Germany to visit her son Larry when he was stationed there. In her lifetime she owned two homes. She loved her Dove Creek home even though the remoteness presented difficulties because of her age. And she wanted to spend the rest of her life there ("They're not putting me in no damn home!") and she got her way. Her laugh was so joyous and her optimism was infectious. And there was seldom a phone call that didn't end with "I love you!" We all love you, sis. A special thanks to her long-time employer, James L. Sorenson, her special friend Bette Stanton of Moab (whose love and concern for Georgia led her to call her almost every day for the past several years) and the Cahone County Senior Center whose love and care helped her fulfill her wish of living her life out at home. Georgia was survived by daughter, Linda Fuller, her sisters, Anita Campbell and Marie Fish, her brothers Charley, Gayle and Kelly Buckley, 5 stepchildren, Leora Anderson, Elaine Jackson, Patsy Lasche, Earl and Bruce Oliver, 3 grandchildren, KaLee Olivera, Keith Fuller, and Kristin Harrison, 5 great grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Leo Oliver, son Larry Oliver, stepson Don Oliver, her parents George Buckley and Wilda Buckley McDonald and brothers Ray, Jim and Andre Buckley. There will be a Celebration of Life at her brother Kelly Buckley's home at 2298 East Lone Eagle Lane, Sandy, Utah on Saturday, August 29th at 4:00 p.m. At a later date, she and her son, Larry's cremains will be interred near her Dad at the Hyrum City Cemetery in Hyrum, Utah.
