GEORGE EDWIN GREEN Graveside inurnment services for lifelong Dolores resident, George Edwin Green will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 9 at Summit Ridge Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. George was born January 15, 1920 in Denver, Colo., the son of Walter B. and Lulu J. (Rinehart) Green. He passed away at Valley Inn Nursing Home in Mancos on Monday, March 5, 2007. George was 87 years old. On Sept. 19, 1953 George married Evelyn Juanita Robinson in Chama, N.M. They shared 51 years of marriage together before Evelyn’s death in 2005. George served his country in the Navy and after his discharge became a member of the Dolores VFW. He volunteered a number of years for the Dolores Fire Department and became one of its retired members. George also gave his time to the Dolores community through service on the School Board and Town Board. In George’s free time he enjoyed woodworking and hunting, but most especially, fishing. Surviving George are his children, Georgeanne Wood of Lakewood, Colo., Carole Whitlock and husband, Gene of Seaside, Ore., Sharolyn Johnson and husband, Bob of Phoenix, Ariz., Ron Green and wife, Marsha of Lewis, Mary Foster and husband, Dusty of Dolores, Wally Green also of Dolores, Don Johnson and wife, Linda of Dolores, and Shirley Pullen and husband, Chuck also of Dolores; as well as by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; his parents; a sister, Margaret Nielson; and a brother, John Green. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of George Green with the Dolores Fire Department.
