GENEVA ANN HUMISTON Funeral services for longtime Mancos, Colo. resident, Geneva Ann Humiston will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 19 at the Cortez Elks Lodge B.P.O.E # 1789 in Cortez, Colo. Reverend Bud Rousset will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mancos, Colo. Visitation has been scheduled for Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Ann was born on December 19, 1937 in Thompkinsville, Kentucky, the daughter of Obie James and Neva (Rush) Walden. She died on Saturday, January 14, 2006 at the Mercy Medical Center in Durango. Ann was 68 years old. On February 23, 1958, Ann married Glen E. Humiston at the Moffet Field Naval Air Station in California. She was a member of the Mancos Study Club, was a proud 4-H Leader for 33 years, and was a dedicated member of the Southwestern Cowbelles. She was named the Colorado CattleWoman of the Year in 2004 and had been awarded the Southwestern Cowbelle of the Year, in 2002. In her spare time Ann loved to grow flowers. She also enjoyed sewing, embroidery, and cooking. Her grandchildren brought her life much love and happiness. Surviving Ann are her loving husband of 47 years, Glen Humiston of Mancos, Colo.; her children, Glenda Lee Humiston of Richmond, Calif., Beverly Ann Humiston and Joyce Marie Humiston-Berger and husband, Mike, all of Mancos, Paula Rae Mitchell and husband, Jim of Globe, Ariz., and Ronda Gail Weir and husband, Ray of Lewis, Colo.; her siblings Betty Ward and husband, Perry of Cumberland, Ind., and Lee Walden and wife, Jeanne of Crawfordsville, Ind. She leaves behind 8 grandchildren, Jessica Hernandez and husband, Jason, Michael Tozer and wife, Missy, Lauri Berger, David Berger, Chad Mitchell and wife, Jamie, Kelly Mitchell, Brittny Weir, and Tyler Weir; one great-grandchild, Jada Tozer; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ann’s name to the Montezuma County 4-H Council, c/o Jan Sennhenn, 109 West Main Street, Cortez, Colo., 81321.
