Generva Thomasien Omo

July 25, 1911 — August 29, 2005

GENEVRA THOMASIEN OMO Memorial services for lifelong resident, Genevra Thomasien Omo will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31 at the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. Reverend Erika Meyer will be officiating. Thomas Howard Omo delivered a baby girl on July 25, 1911 at his home on Montezuma Avenue. That baby girl was Genevra. She lived in that same home her entire life until moving in 2001 to Vista Mesa Assisted Living. She passed away on Monday, August 29, 2005 at the Vista Grande Nursing Home at the age of 94. After graduating from Montezuma Cortez High School in 1930, Genevra went on to attend the Pasadena Beauty School in Pasadena, Calif. She then opened a successful business named Genevra’s Beauty Salon. She was a member of the Episcopal Church Women and a bridge club. Genevra loved her St. Barnabas parish and made candy for the E.C.W. Bazaar’s. Her favorite complaint in the summertime was that “It is hotter than the hinges on the back door to Hades.” Surviving Genevra are her favorite cousin, Pat Grgich of Florissant, Colo., who made her laugh; and her friend, Cindy Irvin of Cortez. Preceding her in death were her father, Thomas Omo; and her mother, George (Guillet) Omo. Memorial contributions can be made in Genevra’s memory to the St. Barnabas Episcopal Columbarium.
