GENE FRANKLIN HALL Graveside services for Cortez resident Gene Franklin Hall will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 20 at Summit Ridge Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. Gene was born the son of Charles Elmer and Lillian Etta (Franklin) Hall on January 22, 1926 in Cherokee, Okla. He passed away with his family at his side in Mancos on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at the age of 82. As a member of the U.S. Navy, Gene proudly served his country during World War II. For thirty years Gene worked in the dry cleaning business. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, camping and the outdoors, as well as college sports. Surviving Gene are his children, Teresa Pictor and husband, Bill of Mesa, Ariz., Holly Shafer and husband, Randy Sr. of Farmington, N.M., Charles Hall and wife, Melissa of Mancos, and Jack Cauthen and wife, Patti of Moab, Utah; and eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Preceding Gene in death are his brother, Allen Hall; and two grandchildren, Gene Shafer and John Shafer.
