GARY LYNN IVES Memorial services for lifelong Cortez resident Gary Lynn Ives will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 22 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Visitation has been scheduled for Thursday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. at Ertel Chapel. Gary was born March 24, 1951 in Cortez the son of Harold Grant and Alice Carmen (Hughes) Ives. He passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at his residence at the age of 61. On August 29, 1987, Gary married Patricia Dian Knuckles in Cortez. A truck driver for most of his life, Gary drove trucks for Rule Trucking and High Country Transport for the last 12 years. Gary was a kid at heart, he enjoying nothing more than teasing people and having fun. His grandchildren were extremely important to him. In his free time, Gary enjoyed hunting with his buddies, fishing, being outdoors, watching movies and tinkering with tools. Gary had a deep appreciation for roses and their beauty. Surviving Gary are his wife of 24 years, Patricia Ives of Cortez; his mother and step-father, Carmen and Jeedie McGill of Clayton, Okla.; his daughters, Marlo and Keri of Denver, Wendy Howard and husband, Jerry and Jessie Larsen and husband, Nathan, all of Bakersfield, Calif.; eight grandchildren; his siblings, Connie Long and husband, Mike of Dove Creek, and Ronnie Long and wife, Brenda of Denver; and by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his father; and by his sister, Sandra Ives.
