GARY DON SIMPSON Graveside services for lifelong area resident Gary Don Simpson will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 19 at Cortez Cemetery. Gary was born on May 3, 1972 in Cortez the son of Lee Henry and Shirley Mae (Beene) Simpson. He passed away on Monday, November 15, 2010 at his sister's residence in Mancos at the age of 38. Gary was well known around town for his cooking abilities. He spent time preparing meals at the Dry Dock, Blondies, Angel's End Zone, and the Elks Lodge. Gary was famous for his steaks and hot wings. A fun loving person, Gary loved to spend time with his friends and family drinking beer. Gary was a San Francisco 49ers fan at heart and he liked Jeff Gordon. Gary could give the best back massage in town! He had a wonderfully large heart, giving back any where he could. At Christmas time, Gary could be found dressed up like an elf accompanying Santa. Surviving Gary are his siblings, Teresa Jennings and husband, Terry of Mancos, Alfred Simpson of Cortez, and Buddy Simpson and wife, Debra of Rock Springs, Wyo.; his nephews, Jeremy and Brandon Jennings of Mancos; and his nieces, Lacey Jennings of Mancos, and Alliegh Simpson of Phoenix, Ariz. Gary also leaves behind his special friends, Bill Riechelt of Cortez, "Grandpa" Wayne and Katrina Peabody of Cortez, Angel Sanders of Cortez, James Sanders and wife, Alicia of Cortez, Patty Simmons and the Blondies crew, Steve Lang of Cortez, Clay and Kathy Cullum of Cortez, Charlie Blaisdale of Cortez, Dani Blaisdale of Cortez and Lindy Rucker of Cortez; and many more friends and extended family members.
