Fredrick Orin Ward

July 9, 1941 — February 15, 2022

Fredrick Orin Ward, known by all as Fred, was born in Ashland, KS on July 9, 1941 to Mark Orin Ward and Gertrude Irene (Lynn) Ward. They moved to Dove Creek, CO when Fred was eight months old, and was raised on Squaw Point. He was the oldest of two children.
At the age of 15 Fred became a uranium miner. In 1965 he was a victim of a mine cave in, but he returned to the mines until 1980 when he became an electrician specializing in rewinding electrical motors. Fred enjoyed spending time with his uncles, Tom, Vick, and Floyd Lynn, fishing and camping. He was an avid hunter and an excellent marksman. Fred loved our country and took great pride in the freedoms his family sacrificed everything for; he proudly called Colorado, his home.
Surviving Fred are his loving wife of 63 years, Myra Ann Ward; his sister that meant the world to him, Sharon Arrington of IN; his three girls, to whom he was an amazing father, Tanya V. Jenkins, Vanale J. Fletcher, and Lynnette L. Ward; he was a hero to his 13 grandchildren; and adored by his 27 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
Services will be held at a later date.
