Franklin Harold Ford

Franklin Harold Ford was born January 8, 1943, in Cortez, Colorado, the second son of Thomas Franklin and Margaret Ethel (Leonard) Ford. He passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at his residence, with his wife at his side at the age of 82. 

Harold graduated from MCHS in 1961. He Married his high school sweetheart, Janice Cox, June 23, 1962. He began his career as a mechanic at Helms Motors. Later, also doing appliance repair for Firestone Home and Auto, for five years, Harold and Janice worked together, installing carpet and vinyl flooring. He was also, a volunteer fireman, for 13 years with the Cortez Volunteer Fire Department. Four of those years he was the Fire Chief. 

In 1990, Harold’s dream of having a small cattle ranch, became a reality, when they brought 20 acres at Arriola. He loved working with his cows and horses and taking care of his land.

In 2019, When Parkinson’s began to take a toll, Harold and Janice sold the ranch and move to Cortez. 

Surviving Harold are his wife of 62 years, Janice, his sons Kenny (Karrie) of Montrose, Colorado, as well as nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Mitchell, his two brothers, Allan and Tom (Cork) Ford.
