FRANK ANTONIO GONZALES Memorial services for lifelong Dolores resident, Frank Antonio Gonzales will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 22 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Dolores. Father John Sauter of Shiprock, N.M. will officiate. Interment will follow at the Summit Ridge Cemetery. Rosary services will be held Wednesday evening beginning at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Frank was born the son of Jose Victor and Prudencia (Archibeque) Gonzales on March 9, 1925 in Dolores. He passed away at his home on Monday, April 19, 2004 at the age of 79. On Dec. 29, 1949, Frank married Ruby Vigil at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Frank and Ruby were blessed with three children, Frankie, Mickey and Lisa. Together the couple shared 54 years of marriage. Very active in his community, Frank served as President of the Dolores Fire District for 20 years. He also gave his time in service to the Dolores School Board and the Dolores Library Board. Frank was active with the Dolores Senior Citizens. He held membership in the Elks Club and a men’s bowling league. In his leisure, Frank loved to fish, hunt and bowl. In his quieter times he enjoyed reading and coin collecting, but most importantly, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving Frank are his beloved wife, Ruby Gonzales of Dolores; his children, Frankie Gonzales and wife, Debbie of Dolores, Mickey Gonzales of Cortez, and Lisa Tozer and husband, Bruce of McElmo Canyon; seven grandchildren, Kendra Watkins and husband, Cameron of Gilbert, Ariz., Jeremy Gonzales of Gilbert, Ariz., Joseph Michael Gonzales and Shane Ross Gonzales of Lewis, Alesha Tozer and Sandy Tozer of McElmo Canyon, and Mitchell Hoffman of Grand Junction, Colo.; and one great grandchild, Kyle Watkins of Gilbert, Ariz. The family requests in lieu of flowers that contributions in memory of Frank Gonzales be made through either branch of the Dolores State Bank to benefit the Dolores Fire Department and the Dolores Community Center.
