FRANCIS E. “FRANK” DALY Francis E. “Frank” Daly was born on March 14, 1919 to John and Laura (Warlaumont) Daly in Casper Wyo. at the family home. He passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Vista Grande Inn at the age of 90. When Frank was 14, he began working the family ranch, Casper Creek Sheep Company. After graduating from Natrona County High School in 1938, he worked on other ranches in the area until he moved to California in 1941 to work for Lockheed in the aircraft industry. On December 31, 1941, Frank married Marilynn Gordon and to this union four children were born, Lynn, Kim, Kevin and Kerry. In 1942, Frank enlisted in the Marine Corp., serving in the South Pacific as an aircraft mechanic on bombers. After the war he worked for Gardener-Denver Co. in Casper, Wyo. and in 1967, Frank was transferred to Grand Junction, Colo. Frank married Madelyn Leighton in Durango, Colo. in 1969. They resided in Grand Junction until they moved to Cortez in 2008. As a young man, Frank was involved in rodeo as a bronc rider. He was an avid outdoorsman all of his life who loved hunting and fishing. Frank and Madelyn spent many happy hours camping and fishing area lakes. Frank leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Madelyn Daly of Cortez; and four children, Lynn and George Stateham of New Bern, N.C., Kim and Mark Robinett of Casper, Wyo., Kevin and Terry Daly of Marshall, Tex., and Kerry Daly of Houston, Tex. Frank also leaves behind three step-children, Larry, Gregg and Glenn Leighton, all of Cortez; his sister, Evelyn of Casper, Wyo.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; and by his siblings, Joseph, Gerald, Bernard, and Mildred. A private family memorial is planned for July. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Activities Center of Vista Grande Inn, 680 E. Hospital Drive, Cortez, Colo. 81321.
