FRANCES MILDRED PHARO Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident, Frances Mildred Pharo will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Pastors Steve and Kim Nofel of the Montezuma Valley Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been set for Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Fran was born Nov. 1, 1915 in Waverly, Kans. the daughter of Hubert M. and Bertha M. (Miller) Lyon. She passed away at Vista Grande Nursing Home on Thursday, June 30, 2005 at the age of 89. A member of the Montezuma Valley Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years, Fran served as Deacon and Sunday school teacher. She was the first dietician hired by Southwest Memorial Hospital back when it was located on south Broadway. Many will remember her at Town and Country Furnishings, working there for more than 20 years. She also worked for Sunrise Cleaners and Allen Theaters. In her free time she loved to garden, sew, play Bridge and travel with the Senior Citizens. Frances is survived by her son, Brent E. Pharo and wife, Donna of Cortez; granddaughter, Tiffany Locker and husband, Reagan of Redding, Calif.; great grandchildren, Audrey and Kyle Locker; son-in-law, Rudy Lippert of Houston, Tex.; brother, Harold Lyon of Cortez; and sister, Madge Beard and husband, Howard also of Cortez. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy Ann Lippert; her first husband and father of Judy, Roy Woodward; and her second husband, Franklin E. Pharo.
