FRANCES ELLEN DENTON Memorial services for longtime Cortez resident, Frances Ellen Denton will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2005 at the Cortez First United Methodist Church. Reverend Lynn Evans will officiate. Frances was born on May 4, 1917 in Dunton, Colo. the daughter of Jacob E. and Ellen (Erickson) Jacobson. She passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at her daughter’s home in Cortez at the age of 88. Frances married David Marshall Denton on Dec. 27, 1945 in Aztec, N.M. They shared 58 years of marriage before Marshall’s death in August 2004. Frances was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Cortez First United Methodist Church. Surviving Frances are her son, Kenneth David Denton and wife, Annette of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters, Marsha Louise (Denton) Cummins of Cortez and Denise Marie (Denton) Maness and husband, Marion of Farmington, N.M.; five grandchildren, David Cummins and wife, Tiandra Sharp of Durango, Timothy Maness and Sean Maness of Farmington, and Carla Denton and Jeffrey Denton of Tokyo; and her sister, Leona Jacobson of Farmington, N.M. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall; a brother, Edward Jacobson; a sister, Margery Butler; son-in-law, Joe Cummins; and grandson, Brian Maness. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Frances Denton to benefit Hope’s Kitchen, c/o Cortez First United Methodist Church; PO Box 1016, Cortez.
