FLOYD RAY PATTERSON Graveside services for lifelong Cortez resident Floyd Ray Patterson will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 21 at Cortez Cemetery. Pastor Kent Slyter will officiate. Floyd was born on September 27, 1945 in Lewis the son of Floyd Lee and Edna Josephine (Hipp) Patterson. He passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at the Heart Hospital of New Mexico in Albuquerque at the age of 64. In 1965, Floyd married Sue Wark in Cortez. Since the 1970's, Floyd has operated heavy equipment in the construction trade. A 30 year member of the American Legion, Floyd served his country during Vietnam in the United States Army. He was a member of the Southwest Livestock Association and Floyd was a former member of the Sheriff's Posse. In his free time, Floyd enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and 4-Wheeling. He especially enjoyed pack trips on the Roaring Fork River and at Echo Basin. Floyd was extremely close to his granddaughter, Audry. She held a very special place in his heart. Surviving Floyd are his loving wife, Sue Patterson of Cortez; his daughter, Krista Murphy and husband, Oso of Cortez; and his granddaughter, Audry Frazier of Cortez. Floyd also leaves behind his siblings, Ellen Pratt of California, Sue Davidson of Texas, Gloria Lawrence of California, Jim Patterson and wife, Louise of California, Ron Patterson of California, Melanie Phillips and husband, Ernie of California, Alma Jean Rue and husband, Scott of California, and Carol Ann Johnson of California; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; and by his siblings, Priscilla Estes and Randy Patterson.
