Florence May Murray

FLORENCE MAY MURRAY A Memorial Mass will be held for Florence May Murray, 96 of Cortez, at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 31 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Father Pat Valdez of officiate. Florence was born May 2, 1914 in Boston, Mass. the daughter of Pasquale and Mary DeSimone. She passed away at Vista Grande Inn on Friday, August 27, 2010. Florence married Walter Calvin Murray on August 9, 1938 in New York City, N.Y., sharing 72 years of marriage. She was a 50 year member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Chicago, Ill. After 53 years in Chicago, Walter finally convinced Florence to come to Colorado to live out their remaining years. They have been members of this community for the past year. Florence loved her dogs deeply, a love that she shared throughout her lifetime. Surviving Florence are her beloved husband, Walter Murray of Cortez; two daughters, Charlene Murray of Chicago, Ill. and Eva Murray of Cortez; one son, Charles Murray and wife, Anne of Grays Lake, Ill.; three grandchildren, Tammi Lozeau, Brian Murray, and Patrick Murray. Preceding Florence in death were her parents; three brothers; two sisters; a grandson, Michael Murray; and an infant son. Florence's family has requested the in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
