Florence L. "Billie" Gorrell

FLORENCE L. "BILLIE" GORRELL Funeral services for Cortez resident Florence L. "Billie" Gorrell will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 13 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation has been scheduled for Thursday afternoon beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Billie was born July 9, 1928 in Minneapolis, Minn. the daughter of Doric Henderson and Madella Lydia (French) McNabb. She passed away on Monday, December 10, 2012 at Vista Grande Inn at the age of 84. On November 19, 1977 Billie married Albin D. Gorrell. The couple moved to Colorado in 1982, residing in Mancos until moving to Cortez in 2003. Billie was active in the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Mancos, and the Mancos and Cortez Methodist Churches. Billie enjoyed time spent playing cards, bowling, playing Bridge and Pinochle, and she was active in the Community Theatre. Billie's love of card games was something she shared with her grandchildren, she taught each of them many different games. Surviving Billie are her loving husband, Albin D. Gorrell of Cortez; her daughters, Susan McQuigg of Minden, Nev., and Anne Lohr of Monrovia, Calif.; and her step-daughters, Lynne Ashway and husband, Randy of Rowland Heights, Calif., and Gayle Tape and husband, Bill of Bakersfield, Calif. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Jennifer, Chris, Jessica, and Sean; and her great-grandchildren, Karly, Kristina, Alexis, Corbin, Travis, and Emma. Billie was preceded in death by her parents.
