FLORENCE BELL NEWMAN Funeral services for Florence Bell Newman, a longtime resident of Cortez, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 4 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Reverend Ron Horne of the Cortez First Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be held at the Hillside Cemetery in Silverton, Colo. next spring. Visitation has been set for Friday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Ertel Chapel. Florence was born the daughter of Robert W. and Pearl (Rossiter) Quick in Longdale, Okla. on October 20, 1919. She passed away at her home on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at the age of 85. Florence married John F. Newman on July 13, 1945 in Walla Walla, Wash. Together they shared 59 years of marriage. An avid square dancer, Florence loved to dance with the Merry Mixers in Klamath Falls, Ore. In 1978 Florence and John made Cortez their home. She loved to embroidery and watch her soap operas. Surviving Florence are her beloved husband, John Newman of Cortez; daughters, Beverly Jean Charbonneau of Seneca, S.C., and Patricia Ann Bossenmaier of Magdalena, N.M.; grandchildren, Melissa Bennett, Michelle Dunbar, Amy Charbonneau, Amanda Charbonneau, Jessica Charbonneau, Tara Charbonneau, and Casey John Bossenmaier; and two great grandchildren, Kyle and Michael Bennett. Two sisters, Vivian Paulson of Longmont, Colo. and Shirley Rods of Oregon; and two brothers, Joe Quick of Hawaii and George Quick of Australia also survive Florence.
