FAY L. KAUTZ Memorial services for longtime Cortez resident Fay L. Kautz will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 10 at the Cortez First United Methodist Church. Fay was born on July 5, 1939 in Scottsbluff, Neb. the daughter of Wesley Eugene and Neva Gertrude (Mills) Kellums. She passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at her home at the age of 74. On June 10, 1958 in Torrington, Wyo. Fay married Larry Kautz. They shared 55 wonderful years together. Fay took an interest in and was very active in the community. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Eastern Star and Job's Daughters. As her children were growing up, Fay was involved with the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. Fay was a Rotary Ann and hosted foreign exchange students. This was something that brought her much joy. Not only did Fay love being involved with people, she loved animals and owned Fay's Dog House. Fay had an interest in the medical field and was a volunteer for the ambulance in Northglenn, Colo. She was a pink lady and served on the Southwest Memorial Hospital Board and Hospital Foundation Board. Fay also was a board member for Empire Electric. She was very active in her church, Cortez First United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Methodist's Women's Group and the Women's Studying Club. Fay enjoyed several activities in her free time and was a member of the Bridge club and bowling league. Playing golf brought Fay a lot of enjoyment. She was a member of the Women's Golf Association and Daughter's of the Southwest Golf Association. Fay will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Surviving Fay are her loving husband, Larry Kautz of Cortez; sons, Scot Kautz of Grand Junction, Colo. and Kip Kautz and wife, Ginger of Cortez; daughter, Kathy Milligan and husband, Kip of Cortez; foster daughter, Kelly Ayers and husband, Jerry of Cortez; grandchildren, Jason Cassady and wife, Jessaca of Bayfield, Colo., Kelsy Daniels and husband, Steve of Fort Worth, Tex., R.C. Kautz of Cortez, and Keve Goodall and wife, Teri of Cortez; great grandchildren, Aspen, Mikayla, Zoey, Taylor, Ethan, Hunter, and Dannika; special foreign exchange student, Pablo Mangupli and family of Argentina; brother, Rex Kellums and wife, Margaret of Fort Collins, Colo.; and sister, Neva Ann Schmechel and husband, John of Cheyenne, Wyo. Fay's parents, Wesley and Neva Kellums preceded her in death. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Montezuma, P.O. Box 740, Cortez, Colo. 81321.
