FANNIE LAVERNE HINTON Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident Fannie LaVerne Hinton will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 15 at the First Assembly of God Church. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Pastor Jeff McDonell will officiate. LaVerne was born on November 30, 1934 in Lewis, Colo. the daughter of Vernon Bryan and Osie Alma (Mourer) Nichols. She passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Valley Inn Nursing Home at the age of 81. LaVerne married Dale Dean Hinton on April 1, 1957 in Albuquerque, N.M. She was a devoted member of the First Assembly of God Church. LaVerne's family meant everything to her; she greatly enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. Surviving LaVerne are her children, Tom Davis (Kathy) of Fort Morgan, Colo., Deanna Hinton of Cortez, Donna Small (Don) of Arriola, Doris Spall (Mike) of Lewis, Leslie Hinton (Pat) of Nashville, Tenn. and Darla Huff of Nashville, Tenn.; her grandchildren, Shelley Thompson (Jerry), Ryan Davis (Trish), Cody Small (Mindy), Bart Small, Tony Spall, Mathew Spall (Kimmi), Kristen Ritter (Justin), Shayla Liukko (David), Brandy Hinton, Darrel Hinton, and Eric Huff; 22 great-grandchildren; her sister, Roberta Whatley of Cortez; and by numerous nieces and nephews. LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband; and by her brother, Norman Nichols.
