EVALENA 'EVIE' RITTHALER Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident, Evalena 'Evie' Ritthaler will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Burton officiating. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been set for Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Ertel Chapel. Evie was born on October 18, 1937 in Crandon, Wisconsin, the daughter of Charles and Susie (Kidd) McPherson. She passed away on Friday, March 4, 2005 at Southwest Memorial Hospital. Evie was 67 years old. Evie was involved with the Montezuma County Democratic Party and Montezuma County Democratic Women. She worked in the office of the Montezuma County Clerk from 1973 to 2002, serving two terms as Montezuma County Clerk. Surviving Evie are her husband, Rodney Ray Ritthaler of Cortez; and her children, Cindi Robb and husband, John of Cortez, Raymond Ritthaler and wife, Audrey Spindle of Durango, and Rodney Ritthaler and wife, Jamie of Cortez. Her grandchildren, Brandon Haile and wife, Hannah, Tiffany Haile, Jackson Robb, Rhiannon Spindle-Ritthaler, Belle Mae Spindle-Ritthaler, Kacey Lard, Jennifer Lard, Naomi Ritthaler, and Jake Ritthaler; four brothers and three sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive Evie. Preceding Evie in death were her parents and two brothers and two sisters. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Evie Ritthaler to the M-CHS Band Boosters or the Montezuma County Women’s Democratic Committee.
