EVA WILBUR (FOSTER) MCGEE
Eva Wilbur (Foster) McGee was born on a farm in Rocky Ford, Colo. on November 1, 1931 to Fred and Cynthia Wilbur. Eva loved being a part of a big family and enjoyed the company of her seven siblings her entire life.
In high school Eva’s family moved to Arriola, Colo. where she met and married Ed Foster in 1950. Within a few years Eva and Ed welcomed Wade, Cherrie, Dusty and Stan. Six weeks after Stan was born, Eva lost Ed in a mining accident and was suddenly widowed at age of 27 with four children under the age of six.
With the help of her family, Eva built a house near Arriola and raised her children in the countryside. A few years later Eva joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and remained an active church member the rest of her life.
In 1968, Eva married Art McGee who had two daughters, Robin and Teresa. A year later, Eva and Art welcomed a baby boy they named Travis. Over the next 50 years Eva’s family grew with 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Eva loved her church community, canning, homegrown vegetables and making the best ketchup. Eva was a talented quilter and loved to research genealogy, however Eva’s greatest joy was spending time with her family.
