EUGENE ISMAY Graveside services for lifelong Cortez resident, Eugene Ismay will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 2 at the Cortez Cemetery. Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75 will conduct military graveside services. Visitation has been set for Wednesday afternoon at the Ertel Memorial Chapel from 4 to 5 p.m. Gene was born September 15, 1924 at McElmo Canyon, the son of John Harvey and Eleanor (Heffernon) Ismay. He passed away at Golden Years Retirement Home in Dolores on May 28, 2005. He was 80 years old. After graduation from Mancos High School, Gene served his country during World War II in the Navy. He is remembered as being good to everyone and that he was a hard, hard worker. Surviving Gene are his brother, Robert Ismay of Cortez; and two sisters, Laura Hatch of Hatch, Utah and Anna Wallace of Munson, Wash. His parents; two brothers, Joe and Ray; and three sisters, Irene, Louise, and Dorothy preceded him in death.
