ESTHER M. WILSON A Celebration of Life for longtime area resident Esther M. Wilson will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 4 at the Pleasant View Church of Christ. Esther was born on April 6, 1926 in Ackman, Colo. the daughter of Ezra Lee and Ruth (Baumgartner) Murphy. She passed away on Friday, February 18, 2011 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 84. Raised in the area, Esther graduated from the Dove Creek High School in 1944. After graduation she attended Abilene Christian College and Fort Lewis College located at the time in Hesperus, Colo. She married Arthur A. "Runt" Wilson on June 19, 1950 in Pleasant View. For years Esther wrote Yellow Jacket News for the Cortez Journal. She was a member of Yellow Jacket Ladies Club, Farmers Union, Grange and the Pleasant View Church of Christ. In her free time Esther enjoyed singing, gardening, camping, quilting and vacationing. She was an active participant in the family farming and ranching operation. Surviving Esther are her children, Wade Wilson of Lewis, David Wilson and wife, Elizabeth of Meeker, Colo., Tim Wilson and wife, Lan DeGeneres of Lewis, Mark Wilson also of Lewis, Ruth Wilson Francisco and husband, Michael of Yellow Jacket, and Diana Wilson of Boulder, Colo.; two grandchildren, Matthew Wilson and Hannah Wilson; and one sister, Lucile Vining and husband, Howard of Bayfield, Colo. Esther was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur "Runt" Wilson; and two brothers, Terry Murphy and Edd Murphy. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Esther Wilson with the Pleasant View PTO.
