Emma Kinkade

EMMA M. KINKADE Graveside services for longtime Dolores resident, Emma M. Kinkade will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 5 at the Summit Ridge Cemetery. Reverend Vickie Richards Street will be officiating. Emma was born on August 4, 1919 in Daviess County, Mo. the daughter of H. Lee and Fannie (Reno) Waters. She passed away on Monday, August 1, 2005 at her home in Dolores at the age of 85. In 1937, Emma graduated from Dolores High School. She then married Jack Cady Kinkade on April 30, 1938 in Cortez. With this union three children were born. Emma became a dedicated homemaker raising Norma, Ray and Gay. She was also an active member of her community, maintaining memberships with the Order of Eastern Star, Johnson Memorial Methodist Church, Ladies Shrine Club, Republican Women’s Club, and the Anasazi Historical Society. During her spare time she enjoyed gardening, woodworking, puzzles, sewing and traveling. She will also be remembered as a wonderful cook; something she enjoyed very much. Surviving Emma are her children, Norma Engel and husband, Jim of Dolores, Ray Kinkade and wife, Vivian of Tucson, Ariz., Gay Kinkade and wife, Susan of Phoenix, Ariz. She leaves nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; and her beloved husband, Jack Kinkade who passed away on December 23, 2004. Memorial contributions can be made in Emma’s name at Dolores State Bank to benefit Hospice of Montezuma or Johnson Memorial Methodist Church.
